1. Simulation of a Fiber Optical Network
- Lab Oriented Project under the guidance of Dr.G.Raghurama, Professor, Instrumentation dept. The project concentrates on creating a simulation tool for fiber optic communication, which exploits the concepts of field distribution, mode selection, dispersion, attenuation, network topology and other critcal aspects of a fiber. The project started off with the analysis of the REAL network simulator by Dr.Keshav and intends to create one on the same lines.

2. Firewalls - Implementation & Performance Evaluation
- Lab Oriented project under the guidance of Dr.Sanjay Srivastava, Assistant Professor, Physics dept. This project focuses on Linux based firewalls at different layer of the network, for future utilisation in any gateway server. The preliminary stages will involve analysing the SOCKS standard as proxy firewall in the transport layer and writing a traffic simulator for testing firewalls in the IP layer. Design of a firewall at IP level, after the formulation of the network policy, is currently under progress. Implementation shall start with Kernel modifications.

3. Development of a Virtual University on the WWW
- Informal Project (June 1997 - ) - OnCampus summer project under the guidance of Dr.K R V Subramanian, Dean, Distance Learning Programme Division, at the Center for Software Development. The Virtual University project, which started in June 1997 (in a partnership with IBM) tries to deploy the division's courses through the WWW. As incharge of the Web programming in the Virtual University team, I was involved in creating JAVA applets and ISAPI programs for the site. I am currently involved in the construction of two shared white-boards for classroom discussion, one in JAVA and other in ActiveX.

4. Design & Development of Distributed Paperless Environment.
- Computer Project under the guidance of Dr.K R V Subramanian, Dean, DLPD at the Center for Software Development. . The project involved the creation of a multi-user system for operating in a distributed environment. My contribution was towards designing and implementing a Kerberos based authentication system for the tool. DES encryption of the data was employed.

5. APOGEE Projects
- Projects done for display during the BITS Academic festival, APOGEE. In the Engineering category, I was involved in developing a Interactive Voice Response System which interfaces with the telephone to provide automatic responses based on the query type. For the Sciences category, I was part of the team, which created a intranet based "Course Management Tool" for future use in educational institutions.

6. Development of a WebSite Management Tool in JAVA
- Computer Project under the guidance of Dr.K R V Subramanian, Dean, DLPD, at the Center for Software Development. . A tool for remote maintenance & manipulation of a website was created in JAVA (ver 1.1.1). Protocols like FTP, HTTP were used for the implementation of the already-existent design.

7. Development of an Intranet WebSite
- OffCampus summer project under the guidance of Dr.A.Subbiah, Vice President, Engg Centre, Lucas TVS, Chennai. Creating a web site for accessing all the databases of the company was the main objective. Java database connectivity was used to extract data and applets provided the interactivity.

8. Study on the Low Output Problem SA15 Alternator
- OffCampus summer project under the guidance of Mr.N.Srinivasan, General Manager, Quality Assurance, Lucas TVS, Chennai. Study was performed to improve the efficiency and the output of the Alternator. Hot and cold tests of the Alternator were performed over a time span of 2 months. The necessary changes were suggested to improve the efficiency & output.

9. Design of a WebSite Management Tool in JAVA
- Informal project under the guidance of Dr.K R V Subramanian, Dean, DLPD, at the Center for Software Development. . Remote administration of a website was to be performed. The platform independency of JAVA led to chosing it as the appropriate language for the tool. Complete design for the software was created and analysed thoroughly.
